As Ben’s other fan here on the Sola Panel, I also want to commend Ben’s new CD.

One of the best tracks on the album talks about the return of Jesus - as Lionel mentioned. What he didn’t say is that it innoculates your kids against the prosperity gospel in a very clever way. Ben helps kids see that the promise of some blessings awaits the return of Jesus.

Lionel’s younger kids (1.5 - 5) like it, and my kids (twins at 11 and another at 8) also like it. But it would be fair to say that not all younger kids like the loud, strong guitars - at least not live.

We had a CD launch concert in our cathedral and I was really pleased that my kids invited some school friends along. Stacks of kids (and big kids) had a great time! But it was fair to say that some the kids say under 8 years old found it a bit loud.

That said, don’t let Lionel’s reference to Ben’s metal background put you off. It’s true, but the music is really just strong and heavy electric guitars and drums; the lyrics are all perfectly easy to hear.

I reckon it’s great especially for kids in Years 3-6 and maybe a bit older too.

I still have the words (and riff) to his song ‘Powerful Love’ going round in my head a week later.

Let me also throw my support into the ring. As an adult I have found Pak’s cd both entertaining and edifying.

My particular favourite is “say NO to sin” (track 6) the it took me many listens before it stopped choking me up and sending shivers down my spine as I dwelt on the Grace that has been lavished upon us and what that means in the life of the believer. The song both reminds me of the freedom that salvation by Grace brings and also the correct response to live lives of Holiness as a result of this salvation.
