Gordon, your comments are very timely.
Even within Sydney In some churches (including churches with the reputation of being evangelical) a great deal of pressure is put on preachers not to preach with clarity against the errors of Roman Catholicism.
There is also the expectation that any views expressed on the issue of women teaching in church be taught as ‘personal opinions only’ or ‘one approach, and alternative approaches are equally bible based.’
To preach with clarity and conviction you need to be very brave! We need to embolden one another, for there are plenty of detractors.
But we also need to remember that this is our lot if we are to be godly preachers. 2 Timothy 3:4:8 is essential reading for us!
Thanks Gordon!!
‘In so doing, you will earn for yourself a reputation for wisdom, sagacity, open-mindedness and graciousness….’
and of course with ‘sagicity’ you have the added benefit of not engaging vast numbers of the population!
