Dear SP readers Tony Payne

Tony Payne

It's probably a bit grandiose to call it the end of an era since, in this case, the era only lasted for about 12 months, but the legendary days of Paul Grimmond's ‘convenorship’ of The Sola Panel have drawn to a close.

Paul is leaving Matthias Media next week to take up a position back on the campus of UNSW, to run the ‘training’ strand of the ministry there. It's something of a dream job, he tells me, which of course it must be to tempt him away from Matthias Media. We're desperately sorry to see him go, but genuinely thrilled (well, we're doing our best to be) that the ministry at UNSW will be boosted by Paul's considerable gifts and experience.

One implication of Paul's departure is that you're going to see a change in the way The Sola Panel operates over the next few months. While we're trying to cover Paul's other work and find a suitable replacement, we won't have the resources to drive SP along quite so efficiently as Paul has done. He's been the one reminding the panellists that it's time to post, making sure that there's always a fresh post each day (even if that means writing one himself), organizing the weekend ‘archive’ posts, and so on.

In practice, what this will mean is that we'll be posting a bit less regularly over the next little while.

Please pray for Paul in his new role, and for us at Matthias Media as we try to work out how to replace him.

Congratulations to Paul!  We know he will be a blessing to the Christian students there (again!).  All the best from Malcolm and me, Grimmo.

Congrats Paul and well done on a great job with SP.

Paul is one of the Staff Editors at Matthias Media. He is married to Cathy and has three fantastic kids. He loves student ministry, reading, writing music and playing the saxophone, and is looking forward to meeting Jesus face to face.
